Finley Gehring receives St. Sebastian Award for Sportsmanship and Leadership

We are proud to announce that Finley Gehring, an 8th-grade student, is this year’s recipient of the St. Sebastian Award. This award recognizes a student-athlete who demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship, strong leadership, and a commitment to their team both on and off the playing field.

Finley has been a consistent and reliable leader throughout her middle school athletic career. From the beginning, she stood out—not just for her skills, but for her determination, work ethic, and attitude. Her coaches noticed early on that she brought a level of focus and competitiveness that pushed both herself and her teammates to improve.

What truly sets Finley apart is her effort. She gives her best not only in games but also during every practice. She brings energy and discipline to everything she does, and that consistency has made a real impact on her teams. Whether it was staying after practice to get in extra work or showing up early to lift weights, her commitment never went unnoticed.

Finley leads by example. She doesn’t seek attention or recognition, but her teammates naturally look to her because of the way she carries herself—with integrity, encouragement, and a quiet confidence. She makes those around her better, and that is one of the clearest signs of a great teammate and a true leader.

We’re grateful for all that Finley has contributed to our school’s athletic program. Her dedication and example will no doubt carry into high school and beyond. Congratulations, Finley, on earning the St. Sebastian Award—it is well deserved.
