Middle School (6-8)

Core Curriculum
Our Middle School program is designed to challenge and support students as they grow academically, spiritually, and personally. Rooted in Catholic values and a strong academic foundation, the curriculum encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork through engaging, collaborative learning experiences. Students are encouraged to reach their full academic and personal potential, with teachers providing the support and structure needed for success. By the end of 8th grade, students are well-prepared—academically, spiritually, and socially—for a smooth and confident transition to any area high school.
-
Daily instruction in language arts, math, science, social studies, and religion, using a curriculum that meets and exceeds Common Core standards to prepare students for high school and beyond.
-
Math is taught in smaller groups to provide targeted support, allowing students to master concepts at a pace and depth appropriate to their needs.
-
A commitment to service is central to the Middle School experience, with each grade level completing community service hours that connect students to local and global needs.
-
Students attend Mass as a school and parish community every Friday morning, deepening their connection to their faith and to one another.
Technology Integration
Each student in grades 6-8 is assigned a Chromebook for use during the school day, giving them daily access to digital tools that support research, collaboration, and interactive learning. Classrooms are equipped with Newline Interactive Boards and document cameras, allowing teachers to deliver dynamic, multimedia lessons. Google Classroom is used across subjects to manage assignments, provide feedback, and encourage student engagement. While technology plays an important role in the learning process, it is used to thoughtfully enhance—not replace—traditional instruction, ensuring students build strong academic and digital literacy skills in a balanced and purposeful way.

Enrichment Opportunities
We always strive to offer our students many fun or thought-provoking opportunities outside of the regular curriculum.
Speciality Classes
We continue to offer a wide variety of specialty classes all the way through middle school to ensure our students graduate fully prepared for everything high school will throw their way.

Art
The artistic growth we see really comes to life in middle school, when students take full advantage of our in-house kiln and yearly art show.

Music
The love our students have for music is further developed with classes that include piano, guitar, drumming, and composition.

Physical Education
P.E. at this age is 2 to 3 times per week, with 8th graders receiving health education to further enhance their understanding of wellness.

Library
Reading can be one of the great joys of life, so we make sure our students get access to many great books during their years in school.

Computers
By now, our students are fully immersed in our Google Classroom environment…and our 8th graders produce a weekly news program.

Spanish
Our students dive deep into Spanish during these formative years to ensure many test into Spanish 2 as they enter High School.
This will be our last year at Saint Mary. After 18 years here, I want to thank the numerous teachers, principals, priests, and parents that have made our time here so enjoyable. You impacted the formation of our 4 children in such a wonderful way.
